Here is a pelvic imprint of a rider who came for a biomechanics assessment. Hacking they got sore over one seat bone and their horse flexed better one way over the other. Although only a moment in time, it is visible on the imprint that the right side is more obvious and the right seat bone is behind the left causing the pelvis to rotate to the right. To help you visualise this, turn your pelvis left and right and think what direction is your belly button facing?? Belly button turns help your pelvis to turn with your horse. If you struggle with the movement one direction does this correlate to your more difficult rein when you ride? Using simple mobility exercises we can rebalance our movement patterns and make riding easier for ourselves and our horses.
