Rider’s muscles have to work in many different ways. They hold us in position for substantial periods of time whether in or out of the saddle so they need to have endurance but must be quick to act to give a leg aid for example. Select a training program that creates lean, strong muscles, riders do not want to look like body builders! Training the muscles to work as they lengthen (eccentric training) is important for riders as it trains the muscles to “catch” you when you move out of your ideal position.
